Er, It has to be the Atlantic, right? A bucket with dishwasher salt won't do?
I'm interested, is this a conceptual thing cos I know a lot of artists like to actually work on the physical surface of the film?
Tell us more about what you want to achieve, for example is the dipped film already developed, exposed but not developed, dipped in the dark or daylight?

yes, the Atlantic is two blocks from where i am currently living, so i thought i would experiment... still in the 'conceptual' stage ...
i have a few undeveloped rolls of mostly landscape shots of the environment around here and i wanted to create some wierd textures on the film surface which would express a bit more abstractly, my experience interacting with this place.
so yeah, i wondered if salt water would effect undeveloped film... if so, then how long might i submerge in the water before it would totally be washed out (i only have experience altering already-developed film)... i will be trying to do some 'at-home' developing, and then tweaking with the physical surfaces afterwards...
so dishwater soap has similar effects ? im still curious as to how delicate the film surface might be before its developed as opposed to afterwards.. ..
thanks.
